Rent Well Tenant Education

EVERYTHING TO KNOW ABOUT RENTING

The Rent Well Tenant Education Program provides community members with all the information necessary to locate, secure, and maintain housing in today’s rental market. This class covers topics like fair housing, understanding your lease, navigating common barriers, exploring your background and credit report, and more.

This 15-hour state curriculum, presented by ACCESS, helps you build a robust rental portfolio and provides a certificate of completion, showing potential landlords that you are prepared, educated, and determined to be a successful renter. Coupled with sizeable financial protections for landlords to mitigate risks, graduates of this class make enticing candidates for tenancy.

To be eligible for certification, participants need to have an income that is at or below 60% AMI and be experiencing at least one barrier to housing. Such barriers include, but are not limited to, poor or no credit or rental history, past legal troubles, having been a ward of the state, homelessness, or housing instability. The landlord incentive portion of this certificate must be used within 18 months of graduation, but the skills and knowledge last a lifetime.
