ACCESS provides education for tenants, homeowners, and potential home buyers. Our online and in-person classes can help you to better understand what’s involved in buying or owning a home, managing your finances, and making your home energy-efficient. Additionally, our homeownership courses meet the requirements of some mortgage lenders and down payment assistance programs.

Homeownership Course
THINKING ABOUT BUYING A HOME?
If you’re thinking about buying your first home, navigating the process can feel overwhelming.
ACCESS offers comprehensive first-time homebuyer education that helps answer any questions you may have about the process. These classes are designed to walk you through the entire homebuying process so you know exactly what to expect and how to manage the costs.
Additionally, some ACCESS programs require homebuyer education to qualify.
Topics you can expect to learn about include:
- The basics of mortgage financing and qualifying for a home loan that suits your needs
- Down payment and closing cost assistance programs for first-time homebuyers
- Local down payment and closing cost assistance programs
- Pre-registration is required for this class.

Financial Literacy Class
MONEY MANAGEMENT SKILLS
Are you interested in learning how to manage your money? Financial literacy teaches the important skills of money management to set you up for success in the future.
This class will educate and empower you with:
- Budgeting
- Credit management
- Meeting savings goals
- Emergency savings tips
- Making smart financial decisions
- All classes will be held virtually

Rent Well Tenant Education
EVERYTHING TO KNOW ABOUT RENTING
The Rent Well Tenant Education Program provides renters and renter-to-be with information about understanding your lease, managing your credit, landlord communication, and more.
Presented by ACCESS, community partners, and local landlords, this state curriculum comes in 6-course sessions. Upon completion, attendees will receive a certificate from Oregon Housing Community Services (OHCS) that can be presented to a landlord or property manager. Reimbursement for this class may be available.
To be eligible to participate, tenants must be low-income and experience barriers to obtaining housing, including but not limited to: poor credit history, lack of rental history, criminal history, a history of housing eviction(s), having been a ward of the state, and homeless or unstably housed.
