Description
The Weatherization Technician Apprentice will be trained to assist the Weatherization Technician and help perform home inspections to address participants’ no heat situations and perform inspections as well as audits in participant’s homes for weatherization. Assisting in auditing homes for weatherization assistance and home repairs in order to improve efficiency and/or correct any potentially threatening conditions. Upon completion of required training and certification, if necessary, will be able to perform the home modeling process and ensure all technical aspects and program specifications are met. This is an apprentice position with the potential to become a certified Weatherization Technician.

Position Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain thorough knowledge of state and local weatherization regulations and specifications.
- Utilize Weatherization Computerized Audit Tools (REMDesign, etc.) to accurately model homes as required to state website, participant files, and
- Assist the Weatherization Technician on auditing and inspecting projects in accordance with State and Federal guidelines.
- Utilize technical equipment including but not limited to blower door, duct blaster, and monoxer.
- Educate participants of appropriate weatherization measures to be completed, verify income for eligibility, and distribute information regarding energy
- Determine participant eligibility and issue work orders to contractors based on inspection.
- Install conservation kit items as required when appropriate.
- Compile data for weatherization and energy education files accurately and in a timely manner.
- Schedule appointments, file paperwork in a timely manner, and respond to phone calls or in person questions as needed on technical weatherization program.
- Assist the Weatherization Technician to develop, coordinate, and teach energy education classes in a group setting as well as one on one education to participants in their homes. Identify and discuss with participants ways in which they can improve their homes efficiency.
Position Requirements
- Belief in ACCESS’ mission to help provide food, warmth, and shelter.
- At least 2 years of Customer service, construction, or similar experience.
- Must meet requirements to achieve REMDesign Certification set by ACCESS, with training provided.
- Ability to lift 25 pounds consistently.
- Strong basic math skills and excellent computer skills to include but not limited to Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively with others.
- Ability and flexibility to travel as needed for training and other work-related
- A strong work ethic and ability to maintain attention to detail
- A valid Oregon driver’s license with a record that is acceptable under ACCESS’ insurance policy.
